In a bid to reduce unemployment, poverty and the trauma of searching for white collar jobs after service, the National Youths Service Corps (NYSC), disclosed it will collaborate with the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) and other commercial banks to give soft loans to corps members across the country.
Speaking at the permanent orientation camp in Wamakko, headquarters of Wamakko Local Government on Saturday, the Sokoto State Coordinator of the scheme, Alhaji Musa Abubakar, disclosed during the NYSC cultural carnival and exhibition of wares produced by the corps members of the 2016, batch ”B” stream.
Abubakar declared that the other partnering banks are the Bank of Industry, Bank of Agriculture and Heritage Bank.
The NYSC coordinator added that the corps members had undergone two weeks training on various skills, and that the training would continue throughout their service year.
According to Abubakar, “They have been trained on various skills like ICT, film making, cosmetology, fashion design, photography, tie and dye, brick making, interlocking, food processing, and preservation among other skills:
As a boost, Abubakar hinted that: “Each of the beneficiaries may get between N3m and N10m to enable them establish their own small scale businesses.
Abubakar continued, “This will reduce unemployment, poverty and the post service trauma of searching for white collar jobs,” he stated, (NAN).
What more can we say than to encourage skills acquisition, mentoring, and financial support for entrepreneurship in our societies. By so doing, we help people realize their potentials and also reduce the rate of unemployment in our societies. In addition, it is often said, better teach people to fish than to give them fish. When we teach and equip people with skills, they can stand on their own, and the society can enjoy peace. The time to think and act is now; these are life and business essentials, so let’s keep thinking clearly! Thank you for reading and do have a beautiful day!
