GTBank Holds Fashion Weekend to Promote SMEs, others

In strategic and continued efforts at showcasing the best of Africa’s fashion to a global audience, Guaranty Trust Bank Plc declares the Small and Medium-scale Enterprises (SMEs) in the fashion industry and fashion lovers all over the world will witness a superior outing at the 2017 GTBank Fashion Weekend.

The GTBank Fashion Weekend is an open business platform, created by the bank, among its many efforts at showcasing the best of Africa’s fashion to a global audience.

The bank said the two-day event of the 2017 edition of the GTBank Fashion Weekend slated for November 11th and 12th would offer the SMEs a dazzling platform to connect with a wider community of their consumers in addition to experts in their industry.

In a statement on Sunday, the Bank declared that the 2016 debut of the consumer-targeted event received encouraging reviews locally and internationally:

“Attracting over 30,000 guests over the two-day period, the event featured a series of master classes, runway shows and a curated retail exhibition – creating the biggest, most thrilling exposé of African fashion to take place on the continent till date. The retail exhibition gave the over 90 Small Businesses that participated, the opportunity to exhibit, sell and connect with consumers, as well as discover new markets.”

The statement also disclosed, “This year’s Fashion Master Classes will feature global fashion experts such as reality TV personality and runway coach J. Alexander, best known for his work on America’s Next Top Model, to renowned fashion entrepreneur and celebrity stylist, June Ambrose to award winning fashion designer, Giles Deacon.”

The statement continued that other fashion and global media specialists tabled to host master classes at this year’s event include: Editor in-Chief of Essence Magazine, Vanessa De Luca; multitalented Nigerian photographer, TY Bello; Kenyan-born Publisher of British GQ Magazine, Vanessa Kingori; professional makeup artist and educator, Danessa Myricks; and fashion editor & style consultant, Shiona Turini.

Meanwhile Mr Segun Agbaje, The Managing Director, GTBank has described the event as an “Initiative that is unlocking growth opportunities for small businesses and putting African fashion on a global pedestal:
