Hello Reader,

Motivated by the poor health services within the country, Sterling Bank , “The one-customer bank” threw its weight behind sponsorship of the 2016 edition of the Nigerian Service Delivery Innovation Challenge organized by the Federal Ministry of Health.

The move according to the bank was driven by the poor state of the health sector in the country and the effects on the citizens, in addition to the need for public-private partnership for acceptable repositioning.

In a statement signed by the bank’s Chief Marketing Officer, Mr. Henry Bassey, the sponsorship of the innovation challenge was aimed at complimenting the federal government’s effort towards improving healthcare services within the country.

Bassey also reiterated the bank’s interest in a cleaner, healthier environment for Nigerians as exemplified in their Sterling Make-Over (STEM) initiative which continued to re-energize their conviction in a clear and more progressive nation:

His words, “as demonstrated in our Sterling Make-Over (STEM) initiative which continues to reinforce our conviction in a cleaner and more prosperous nation”.

The bank was optimistic that the “Challenge” would help Nigeria progress further in the areas of vaccination coverage among young children; check prevalent contraceptive rate among Nigerians; boost Vitamin A coverage among children from the ages of six months to five years, and also create awareness for the use of insecticide-treated bed nets by children below five years, amongst other benefits.

The event which took place recently at Transcorp Hilton, Abuja, witnessed important dignitaries from the health and other key sectors of the economy. Some of the dignitaries included Dr. Osagie Ehanire, the Minister of State for Health, Dr. Okechukwu Enelamah, Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Minister of State for Budget and National Planning, Mrs. Zainab Ahmed and Executive Director, Sterling Bank Plc, Mr. Abubakar Suleiman, representing the lender’s Managing Director and Chief Executive, Mr. Yemi Adeola, (
